Work is gathering speed for the village celebrations for the Diamond jubilee! It’s so exciting and ncie to see so many people from the village involved and over the actual weekend,it’s going to be so nice to be able to bring so many neighbours together! A real treat!
We are helping with The Big sunday Lunch which is effectively 200 people in a street-party-style for hog roast and veggies! Starting to panic slightly about the logisitics of meat and veg for 200 people butim cerain (ish) that it will all be ok!!
We’ve got a karaoke and disco here after the Sunday Lunch and I can’t wait, it’s going to be so much fun! Hopefully we’ll get a real variety performance from people in the village!
I’m reallylooking forward to the Jubilee, it’s going to be such a great atmosphere for everyone

We’re all fools all the time really!
I love April (hail and rain aside!) mostly because its St. Georges day!!
this is, by far, the BIGGEST day of the year in our calendar and just the most fun you’ve ever had! It’s a long old day for us but in all honesty, you don’t realise! it is just fab!
Starting with breakfast at 7.30am (AM!!!), full english to set everyone up for the day, thenlunch, the fabulous afternoon fete starts at 3pm with the classic fete games like splat the rat and hook a duck (i think i spend more money at the fete than anywhere else!). Also VVVVVVV excited about the Aldbury Morris Men coming back and bringing their music with them
))
ooo..in a bold move we’ve decided to add to our already extensive events for the day with a hog roast at 5pm! The delicious waft of roast pig in the air after our afternoon fete will be irresistible! (gives us a chance to practice for the jubilee fete in june as well!)
i can’t wait, its going to be EPIC!!! make sure you book the monday and tuesday off work, you dont want to miss is (but u will want to miss the hangover at work on the Tues!!)

Our big launch party for our new menu was a great success and a really fab night with some great company and excellent feedback from our regular, newsletter-reading customers!
Its all change here with the VIP cards making an exit in favour of our own reward scheme… needless to say there has been some confusion both for us and the customers but a simple explanation has got everyone on board! So now the vouchers can be spent here @ the Queens and also at the Wheatsheaf. EXCELLENT!
If you haven’t had a look already, check out or new menu on the website and give us a call on 01296 688268 to book your table and try our delicious new menu!

AGGHH!! In a fit of madness I decided to enter the BII’s Licensee of the Year award a few months ago.
I was so pleased when I got through the first round…. then the second… and now……. dun dun duuuuuun… I’M A SEMI-FINALIST!!! aggghh! this is very exciting and also very scary!
Being one of only 22 semi finalists in the country is such an honour but also terrifying! Me (and The Queen herself) are to be judged by the best of the best from the BII in a few weeks time. eeeeek! Run away now or face the music!?
As everyone keeps telling me,… im sure it will be fine!
wish me luck!

Love and cheese… is there ever a finer thing in life!?
valentines day is almost upon and despite having been living and breathing is since the end of december, I am atually looking forward to it!
We’ve got a few bookings which is great! Inevitably though there will be those last minute frantic phonecalls on the day! It always amazes me how many people forget…as if I ever could!
The real excitment though is the Cheese Dinner!! I’m not sure everyone feels the same but I’m REALLY excited about it!! 3 courses of pure cheese.. mmm… its not just cheese though so have a look at our facebook for the menu
I’ve been getting involved in the dimaond jubilee celebrations as well and I have to say i’m really impressed with the way everyone has come together from the village to really get involved. The celebrations are going to be massive and it’s going to bring such a sense of community: exactly the antidote to all the doom and gloom in the world i think

It might feel a tad late for resolutions but this is one I really ought to keep!… Keeping this blog updated!
As pointed out to me by some of my customers, i have neglected to keep this blog up to date! This simply will not do! I think I can safely blame it on the facebook and twitter.. its too addictive!
Nevertheless the blog deserves some attentions so a quick update!.. Xmas and NYE 2011 were fab and we had some great movers and shakers in on NYE so a big thanks to everyone who came.
The BIG news of course is the new addition to our family: The Wheatsheaf Bow Brickhill has taken the title of “sister” pub and we are proud of this new arrival
In a lovely village with some lovely people, it’s our first step on the road to world domination! check out the website www.wheatsheafbowbrickhill.co.uk
We’ve got a great february coming up but i fear i may rabble on too much so I promise to write another post before the month is out to let you know about our forthcoming events in Feb!

Well it looks like the sun is finally making an appearance which is great news
I love a bit of sunshine, even if i don’t get to see it too often!
It’s been a busy old week here so far which is brilliant, am sure it has something to do with the combination of sun and half term! We had Smudge performing with us on Bank Hol sunday and they were great. Although we did’t get much of a chance to stop and listen as Stella and I were ridiculously rushed off our feet! I’ve got calves like stone from all the running around! It was a brilliant night though with some fantastic dancing from some people! A great laugh all round.
Do you know someone who is talented? Creative? Interested in all things edible!? We’re looking for an apprentice to join our kitchen team. We’re offering a great opportunity to someone who wants to break into the catering industry. Experience is by no means necessary but what we want is someone with passion and a desire to learn. This is similar to a formal apprenticeship where there will be on the job training alongside formal courses. This enables you to gain professional qualifications and experience.
if you are interested or you know someone who is then please get in touch and let us know why you think you will make a brilliant addition to our kitchen. Denise@thequeensheadwing.co.uk

Well… that was a busy few weeks! The Wedding day was beautiful, if a little quiet during the day but I can only assume that people were taking the opportunity to get together with their neighbours for a lively street party! The evening reception we held with “Hotline” (www.hotlineduo.co.uk) was FANTASTIC though with the duo getting everyone up on their feet from the word go. It really was an electric atmosphere and we’re so grateful to them!
Prior to that we had the excellent “The Informers”: great friends of the pub and a band that is always guaranteed to get everyone up with their renditions of some classic 70’s & 80’s punk. Some more fantastic dancing from some of they younger generation, resulting in a lot of laughs!
The Bank Holidays have proven to be a great time to get away for everyone and those that couldn’t quite often joined us in the garden which was fab. We are very lucky to have such a great garden (mostly for my own benefit when I get a few minutes in the sunshine!)
We’ve got even more live music planned for this month with “Smudge” joining us for the end of May Bank Holiday(Sunday 29th May), I’m sure the dancing shoes from our previous 2 events will be making another well deserved re-appearance!
We’ve also announced the winner of our pizza competition so we’re looking forward to lots more orders over the coming summer months (Assuming the staff don’t eat it all first!)

Wow, it is so lovely outside! It’s been a real treat having such beautiful weather this week, i’ve even gone as far as putting out the parasols in the garden today and it looks great! The sun hasn’t failed to put a smile on everyone’s faces. Long may it continue (Although knowing the British weather, it probably won’t!)
Well, we have been steadily preparing for the double bank holiday that’s coming up.We’ve got so much to prepare for St. George’s Day and the Royal Wedding! They’re both full days starting with Breakfast and going right the way through! it’s going to be a hectic couple of weeks. Whilst everyone else is enjoying the extra bank holiday, those of us in the catering trade are gearing up for some very busy days ahead!
The pizza oven is up and running and they seem to be going down well (not just with the customers either.. I think we’re all half a stone heavier through “tastings”) although we’ve started with a quiet approach the village will soon be receiving our menu through the door so watch out Wing!
All in all we’re getting busier and hopefully that continues along with the good weather!
